Types of Bonus

Promotions come in a handful of recurring shapes across the industry. Knowing which shape you are looking at tells you most of what you need before reading a single number, because each format has its own characteristic catch.

Deposit match

The classic: the operator adds a percentage of your deposit as bonus funds, up to a cap. The percentage is the headline and the cap is the offer — a 100 per cent match up to 5.000 RSD gives at most 5.000 RSD however much you deposit. Matches almost always carry a turnover condition, which is what decides whether the bonus funds can ever become withdrawable.

Free spins

A number of spins at a fixed stake on named games. Two numbers define them: the spin value and the count — 100 spins at 10 RSD is 1.000 RSD of play, not 1.000 RSD of money. What the winnings are subject to is the part to check: some free-spin offers pay in cash, others in bonus funds behind a requirement.

Freebet

The sportsbook equivalent of a free spin: a token staked on a selection, where the stake itself is consumed rather than returned. A winning 1.000 RSD freebet at odds of 3.00 pays the 2.000 RSD profit rather than the full 3.000 RSD return. Our guide to free bets covers the mechanics in full.

Risk-free or refunded first bet

Place a normal bet with your own money; if it loses, the stake comes back, usually as a freebet and usually capped. This is the shape of the first half of the welcome offer here, where a losing first ticket returns as a freebet up to 1.000 RSD with no turnover condition attached.

Cashback

Across the industry this usually means a share of net losses over a period returned to the account, and the questions that decide its worth are the same each time: cash or bonus funds, over what period, and is there a cap.

Worth knowing that the name is not standardised. The cashback running at OktagonBet is a sportsbook refund on a ticket that loses by exactly one selection, with a multiplier tied to the matched odds — a different mechanic under the same word. Our guide to cashback sets out the conditions.

Reload

A smaller match aimed at existing accounts rather than new ones, often on a schedule. Same mechanics as a welcome match, usually a lower percentage and a lower cap.

Loyalty and tournaments

Points accrued through play and exchanged for rewards, or scheduled competitions ranked by some measure of play. Neither is a bonus in the strict sense; both are reasons to keep playing, which is worth naming plainly when deciding how much weight to give them.

OktagonBet runs a loyalty programme of this kind, with weekly rewards and a loyalty bonus on Thursdays covering sport, slots and virtual games. What it measures and how the reward is sized are set out in the promotion itself.

Sportsbook offers and casino offers are separate

Most promotions across the industry are scoped to one product: a freebet belongs to the betting board, free spins belong to the slot lobby, and a requirement generated on one side is usually not satisfied by play on the other. A package that covers both — as the current welcome offer here does, with a refunded first ticket on the sportsbook and spins on the slots — is really two offers presented together, each with its own conditions.

Reading them as two rather than one avoids the common mistake of assuming a condition met on the sports side has done anything for the casino side.

The terms that decide all of them

Whatever the format, the same short list settles what an offer is worth:

  • a turnover requirement, and whether it applies to the bonus or to bonus plus deposit;
  • the cap, which is the real size of the offer;
  • the expiry window;
  • which games or markets qualify, and at what weighting;
  • whether winnings arrive as withdrawable cash or as bonus funds.

Our guide to wagering requirements works through the arithmetic behind the first of those, which usually decides the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which bonus type is best?

The one whose terms you can actually meet with the play you were going to do anyway. A large offer you cannot complete is worth less than a small one you can.

Are free spins the same as a bonus?

They are a bonus in the form of play rather than funds. What the resulting winnings are subject to is what matters.

Why do bonuses have conditions at all?

Because a bonus is a marketing cost. Conditions are how operators bound that cost, and reading them is how you find out what is left for you.

Can I take more than one offer at once?

Frequently not — most terms across the industry restrict a second bonus while one is active. The rules of each campaign say.
